It is no secret to those who have been with me on safari that my heart exhilarates when I get to see Wild Dogs out here! Without a doubt they are my favorite animal. Not a lot of people have them on their wish list nor do even know about them. Often mistaken with hyenas. Africa's second most endangered predator is a joy to watch in their natural habitat. They are highly social & their care for each other is second to no other predator out here. Kruger National Park holds the biggest population in South Africa.
On this particular morning we hadn't seen much when we heard the high pitched noises in the nearby bushes. Shortly after the whole pack appeared on the road. Their coats were still wet from the rain. This dog stopped for a brief moment next to me watching his pack trotting down the road before he ran after them and they soon disappeared again in search for a possible prey.
